The Bajen received a distressing call, regarding a complex case involving a woman who sought her assistance in lodging a complaint against her husband and another woman in their compound. The situation had escalated to the point where the woman had taken their child to her maternal home, prompting her brother to intervene. However, it became apparent that the caller, who identified as the victim, was also displaying abusive behaviour towards household members, including her husband, complicating the dynamics.
Understanding the complexities of the situation, the Bajen revisited the husband, engaging in a frank dialogue about the issues and successfully persuading him to consider reconciliation with his wife. Subsequently, the Bajen travelled to the wife's village, initiating a meeting with both the woman and her family members. She tactfully conveyed some of the husbands concerns, fostering a constructive conversation aimed at achieving resolution. Through collaborative efforts, a solution was found to the problem, and the Bajen played a pivotal role in facilitating the lady's reunion with her husband.
Recognising the importance of sustained peace and understanding, PFI extended an offer for professional counselling and therapy for the woman involved. However, it's essential to note that these services are only available exclusively in Greater Banjul.
